We are not mere traders or middle-men brokers. The founder of Mithila Super Roots personally cultivates, harvests, and grades premium Phool Makhana in the natural wetlands of Bangaon, Saharsa (Bihar).
Most brands in the market today are marketing companies based in metropolitan cities who purchase commercial Makhana through multiple layers of agents and commission brokers. Mithila Super Roots is fundamentally different.
Born and rooted in Bangaon, District Saharsa (Bihar), our founder actively manages our agricultural wetlands and pond ecosystems. From planting black lotus seeds in natural fertile silt, nurturing the floating thorny leaves (Euryale ferox), diving for the harvest with traditional bamboo baskets, to wood-fire popping and optical grading — every single batch is grown and monitored under his direct supervision.
This direct agricultural connection ensures that our wholesale buyers and consumers receive 100% unadulterated, single-origin, fresh seasonal crop at unmatched direct farm-gate pricing.
How we transform natural wetland flora into the world's crunchiest superfood.
In December–January, seeds germinate in natural wetland silt ponds nourished by Himalayan mineral-rich ground waters in Saharsa.
Giant circular prickly leaves spread across the water surface. In May–June, beautiful purple flowers bloom and form thorny seed pods.
In August–September, expert harvesters dive to the pond bottom using conical bamboo Gaaj baskets to gather fallen mature black seeds.
Sun-dried graded seeds are roasted in cast iron pans and struck with wooden mallets to pop the crunchy, immaculate white Jumbo Fox Nuts.
We welcome wholesale buyers, corporate partners, and snack brands to visit our live cultivation ponds and processing unit in Saharsa, Bihar.
